Sports Funding

After analysis of PE provision in 2017-18 it was decided to enlist the support of Milton Keyens Sports Partnership in April 2018 to upskill teachers to deliver high quality PE lessons.  Advice was sought from Milton Keynes Sports Partnership (MKSP) in order to develop a skills based scheme of work, audit current equipment and order additional resources and use their expertise for training staff as necessary.

The everyday provision for physical development was also analysed and  resources, training and opportunities for pupils to be active during play and lunch times were sourced.  Resources, such as balance boards, and motor skills development equipment have been purchased for everyday use.  This, alongside the resources that encourage the development of gross motor skills, fitness and  skipping, hula hooping, running and ball games will enhance the pupils physical development, active hours and variety of opportunities.

Trips to a sporting venues are to be planned throughout the year to offer pupils a variety of experiences; Big Rock Climbing wall in MK, MK Springers (gymnastics), MK Dons (football stadium).  During the year experts in different sports will be invited into school to run taster sessions of sports.  The Northampton Saints are running a half term rugby session for all pupils in the Autumn term.

Other areas for development are;

  • researching additional 'big' playground resources to enable pupils to develop a range of skills in agility, balance, strength and fitness
  • forest school sessions and training
  • additional storage so pupils can access their own equipment at play and lunchtimes making independent active choices.
  • trips to salcey forest/harrold park
