Who are we?
We are parents, staff, grandparents and anybody else who is interested in supporting the school. We have a small committee to try and co-ordinate events. Over the past year a large number of people have organised events, not just the committee, which is great.
What do we do?
Our aims are to
- Raise money to support the school. For example subsidising school trips so that all children can go on them, paying for special equipment the school would like.
- Organising social events outside of school so that parents and the children meet up and have fun together, thereby building a stronger community.
- Promoting the school. Some of our events are especially targeted towards young children and run as a way of inviting families to see our school.
What sort of events have we held?
During the Autumn term we usually hold a social event, often a disco, but not always!
Traditionally we hold a Christmas Fete in December. For the last couple of years this has involved a magic show for the children. A number of our international families have also shared their Christmas traditions.
One of our biggest fund raising events is running a coconut shy at the Great Linford Waterside Festival in June.
Twice a year we sell bedding plants. The nursery we work with supplies beautiful plants.
Other popular events are:
End of year disco
DVD evenings
We like to try some new ideas. This year we tried a swimming evening at Middleton Pool, a Pampered Chef evening, a bookstall, a healthy lunch day, printed tea-towels and a Bunny Hunt walk.
Working together, over the year we have raised over £1000 for the school.
