Forest school is an inspirational process that offers children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self esteem through hands on learning experiences in a local woodland environment. We utilise our local community and involve it in the process of our own Forest School. The benefits of outdoor and environmental education are well researched and documented but for many children these experiences are rare and not always successfully contextualised or developed. We aim to bring this experience to all of our children, teaching them many forestry skills along the way.
Autumn Term 2010:
Forest School will commence on Tuesday 28th September for the Year 2 children. Year 1 children will go the following week - Tuesday 5th October. From then on the year groups will go on alternate Tuesdays.
Forest School will take place in the grounds of Great Linford Manor. The children will come to school in their uniform - but will need to bring with them suitable footwear (wellies) and warm clothing, including waterproof jacket and trousers, in a named carrier bag.
